Stuart Crew has been invited to participate in the Prince William Rowing Club Erg Sprints (Feb 13th). This is a smaller, free event held in Woodbridge. There was a great turnout at this event last year with anticipation of the same this year. The PWRC Erg Sprints takes place the week before our season starts and is a great opportunity to see what the local competition looks like. Click to see photos and videos from last year.

Coach Mike needs to submit Stuart Crew entries and t-shirt pre-orders to PWRC by Feb. 9. By week’s end, rowers will advise captains with intentions of entering a relay and/or an individual event. Competitors are allowed to enter one individual event and two relays. Parents can consider competing in the relay event with your son or daughter—Coach Mike offered to work with parents interested in competing. Coach Mike will handle all the registrations.

Event T-shirts.

New 2016 T-shirts and prior year T-shirts will be on sale at the PWRC HS Erg Sprints on 13 February. To ensure availability of desired sizes, rowers are encouraged to reserve their shirts when signing up for their events with their coach. Available sizes are XSM, SM, MED, LG, XLG, XXLG. Checks are made payable to PWRC. The New 2016 T-shirt color is safety (neon) green. Prior year T-shirts are also available in white.

Bonus!

Those who row 1500m or 2000m during either of the erg sprints get credit for a weekly erg test.

PWRC Erg Sprints Info

The 13th Annual Prince William Rowing Club’s (PWRC) High School ERG Sprints will take place on Saturday, 13 February 2016 at the Gold’s Gym in Dillingham Square shopping center. Same-day event registration will open at 1 PM with the competition running from 2 to 6 PM.

Schools invited to participate: Forest Park, Gar-Field, Hylton, Potomac, Woodbridge, South County and JEB Stuart

Purpose:  The purpose of this event is to support local High School rowing programs by giving coaches feedback on their athletes’ skills and to provide an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate that they are ready for the water after the long winter conditioning season. Of course, taking home medals is a great way to start the rowing season.
