Laura Hegemann, JEB Stuart ’15 grad and former crew co-captain, got a shout out in the most recent Scarlet Knights e-newsletter.
In all, 28 Scarlet Knights are returning with experience on the water from previous seasons. The team will also welcome in 30 freshmen who will look to provide depth to the program.
Among the freshmen, Sarah Johanek (Cleveland, Ohio), Laura Hegemann (Falls Church, Va.) and Carolyn Bennett (Maple Shade, N.J.) have separated themselves from the pack after the offseason program concluded.
“Sarah Johanek is doing a solid job here at Rutgers as she has continued to develop her rowing and fitness all year long. She will be racing in the top boat this weekend in the top eight,” Borghard said. “Also in the freshmen ranks rowing in the second varsity eight are Laura Hegemann and Carolyn Bennett.”
The team is entering its second season in the Big Ten and looking to build on the progress they made in their first season in the extremely competitive conference.
Good luck to Laura on continuing success at Rutgers!
