- Thurs, Apr 21, Spring Fling at Stuart
- Thurs., Apr 21, Tri-meet Scrimmage with South County and Hylton. Be sure to read below for details on transportation and timing.

Weds, Apr 20: Dice Burger
From 5 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday, April 20, at Dice Burger (7023 Columbia Pike in Annandale) a portion of the sales will be donated to Stuart Crew. Make sure to print and bring the flyer with you. Tell your family, friends and neighbors. More details and a link to the flyer here.
Thurs, Apr 21: Spring Fling (during school hours)
Cheer on your teammates and be ready to defend the crew team as Stuart students challenge rowers to a 500-meter race off. School lets out at the conclusion of Spring Fling at 12:55. Be sure to be back at 3:15 to catch the bus for …
Thurs, Apr 21: Tri-meet Scrimmage Be sure to read this section thoroughly
We’ll finish up practice on Thursday with a tri-meet scrimmage against South County and Hylton. This scrimmage will give the rowers a unique opportunity for racing outside of a regatta event. We’ll face off against two tough competitors. But, like our upcoming regatta at Mathews, this scrimmage will provide rowers the opportunity for multiple races, including some seat swaps that will create exciting new boat combinations. It is also a great opportunity for parents to come down on what looks likely to be a lovely spring evening to see some great racing (cowbells not included). The scrimmage will start about the time practice normally ends (so about 5:30), and we’ll take advantage of as much day as the daylight allows. Because we’ll be running later, the bus will bring the rowers down, but the bus will NOT be available to bring the rowers home. We expect to wrap up the afternoon at 7:30. Please either collect your rower at Sandy Run at 7:30 or arrange for him/her to ride home with others. (Let me know if you have spare room in your car for others. I’ll act as a clearinghouse for those rowers who can’t find a ride back.)
Fri., Apr 22, Practice at Sandy Run, 3:15 p.m. to 6:30 bus load in.
Practice as usual at Sandy Run with bus service. Catch the bus at Stuart at 3:15 and return at the usual time.
Sat., Apr 23, Practice at Sandy Run, 9 am to noon.
No bus service, so you may want to either ask your car pool friends for two rides this week or, better yet, return the favor from Thursday.
Sun, Apr 24, Earth Day
Thank you to the many of you who already have signed up (click for Sign Up) to help with the Earth Day celebration/Crew fundraiser for Bancroft’s Earth Day Celebration this coming Sunday, April 24th at Beach 5 (just off Waterway Drive).
Please note that EVERY family is requested to donate a HOMEBAKED (hey—box mixes are FINE!!) item for the bake sale.
Additionally, EVERY rower is asked to help out with the Race-a-Rower event. Take a turn challenging a Barcroft resident (adults and children both compete) on an erg. There will be a couple of people who will give you some competition!!! For others, it’s just super fun, and a great introduction to the dryland portion of the sport.
Last, please note toward the bottom of the signup that SIX LARGE COOLERS are needed. Our Earth Day coordinator, Catherine Dubas, is bringing hers, but hopes there are five others out there who will do the same.
First people should plan on 11:30 a.m. arrival to get items to our area and begin setting up. Organizers have asked us to be ready to sell food at 1:15 p.m. this year.
If you have questions, please contact Catherine. And here’s that SignUp Genius link again (hint, hint): http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0544aeab29ab9-earth1
Thanks,
Mari
