Thanks again to all the rowers and parents who were part of this weekend’s crew activities. We had a busy weekend between moving the boats and getting going for the first time. How lucky we were to get such a gorgeous weekend to start us off!
If you aren’t already following the team on Twitter, please do (@stuartHScrew). You’ll see some of the photos and videos that Heidi took today in the feed.
Looking ahead, remember practice is Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, starting at the school at 3:15 in your running shoes.
On Saturday, in addition to practice (9 to noon), we need rowers and parents for an afternoon activity. Lake Barcroft has given the team a launch and engine to add to our fleet in return for the team delivering the community’s directories. We will be making those deliveries Saturday afternoon.
The boosters will provide lunch immediately after practice. Then we’ll start from Beach 4 at approximately 12:30 pm.
The rowers will work in teams to deliver the directories. (Unlike Tag Day and Wreaths and Poinsettias, you don’t even have to ring a doorbell for this one. Just carefully place the directory in an easily noticed but sheltered spot.) If we have all rowers, we expect we can knock this out in just two to three hours.
“All rowers” is an important part of the calculation. If you can’t be part of the effort on Saturday, please be prepared to be part of teams on Sunday afternoon that will be convened if we fall short of completing the deliveries on Saturday.
Parents: We need at least seven parents to provide transportation around the lake on Saturday and supervise the rowers as they drop the directories off. Sign up here.
