All,

My thanks to the rowers, coaches, and parents below who were able to support our return to Sandy Run yesterday. All of the boats for Monday are now rigged and ready.

Boys – Steven, Parker, Brandon, and Long

Girls – Pasha, Hannah, Norah, Vivian, Leilani, Brooke, Tucker, Giselle, Noorah, Lauren, Helina, and special guest Emma (former captain)

Coaches – Lexie, Sergio, and Chip

Parents – Linda Manning, Pete Wiley, Heidi Gioseffi, Mari Mullane, Jerry Mullane, Vicky Carmody, Paul Taylor, Andrew Riester, Rahel Bizuayene, Stephanie Weber, and Anne Holleran. Marty McGuigan was there as well for one his many River Rat shifts.

Also, as we close out the Barcroft phase, a special thanks to Bob Finley—a builder of docks, painter of oars, assembler of fences, and much more. Bob supported every Barcroft practice, transporting the coaching launches from his home to Beach 4 each day.

Looking to this week … we’ll start bus traznsportation to Sandy Run from the front of the school. The bus departs NLT 3:30 pm, if everyone gets there early we can get a bit more practice time.

For  the new rowers … the enIMG_6121_move_launch1_800x533pxvironment at Sandy Run will be a change for you. It’s very busy, with a lot of boat movement, both on and off the water. Be mindful of your surroundings, especially on land,  so you’re not hit by a boat.

For the returning rowers … those there yesterday saw the new launch location; for those not there, our launches are to the right of the regatta launch dock on a new dock that we’ll share with South County.

For all rowers … practice good sportsmanship. We’ll IMG_7597_new_coaches_launch_800x800pxbe in an environment with several other schools and you represent Stuart. No cursing and no arguing with other crews. If you have an issue with something that another rower or crew does, talk to your coach and we’ll address it with the offending team.

Finally … make sure you have extra clothes, snacks, and water (the water fountains are not on at Sandy Run yet). Regardless of the forecast, you should come to school prepared to go to practice. We review the weather every day, and if we don’t think we’ll be able to get on the water we’ll cancel the bus by 1pm and revert to a dance studio practice (3:30 – 6 pm). Word will get passed by the captains and coaches at school.

See you tomorrow …
Coach Mike
