Three Occoquan regattas are now behind us. Only three regattas remain before we head to Mathews on May 6.
Yesterday’s regatta was cut short due to high winds; however, all our entries, except the junior/novice women, had chance to compete.
Congrats to the men’s boats — 1st in the Men’s Quad (Noah, Warner, Steven, Chris), 2nd in the Men’s Quad (Vince, Sam, Charles, Markus), and 2nd in the Junior 4+ (Brandon, Julian, Kurt, Jimmy). In this last race a boat finishing ahead of our men’s junior 4+ was “exhibition only” and not competing.
Our women’s double (Mackenzie/Hannah) placed 2nd in the heat to advance, but the final was canceled due to high winds and deteriorating weather conditions by midday. Our women’s quad had to compete in the men’s race because Gar-Field scratched their women’s entry — our women’s quad however, did beat the Hylton men.

Spring Break
As noted by Ms. Mullane, we’ll continue practice next week with an earlier start preparing for the Darrell Winslow Regatta on April 14. We’ll have a number of absences that will impact entries next Saturday, but we’ll field as many boats as possible. Those we expect to see tomorrow are:
Girls — Norah, Caroline, India, Ryan, Margaret, Noorah, Isabelle, Brooke, Lauren, Helina
Boys — Liam, Julian, Jimmy, Kurt, Warner, Charles, Sam, Markus, Vince
We have rigged the Pilot with sculling riggers (thanks Paul Taylor and Coach Chip Shand) turning it into an “octuple” so we can do some sculling training this week. Tomorrow all the available novice women will be in the Pilot.
See you at the boathouse.
