On Monday and Tuesday members of the J.E.B. Stuart Crew Team met with every 8th grade PE class at Glasgow Middle School to introduce students to the sport of rowing and raise awareness about the opportunity to row for J.E.B. Stuart High School in the 2017-2018 school year. The PE teachers reported a great response from the 8th graders, and the event generated a lot of excitement. The team left behind flyers promoting our Learn-to-Row Mini Camp on August 10-12th. Plans are in the works for an afterschool “rowing for fitness” ERG club at Glasgow next fall.

Thanks to the following rowers who worked around exam schedules and other responsibilities to grow the next generation of Stuart rowers: Pasha, Erin, Vince, Caroline, Isabelle, Giselle, Ryan, Noah, Steven, Chris, Mackenzie, Julienne, Hannah, and India.

Big thanks to:

  • Coach Sergio Jimenez and Dad Jerry Mullane who served as strong recruiters and motivators
  • Bob Finley who helped transport the ergs to and from Glasgow
  • Heidi Gioseffi for her wonderful videos and flyer advertising our Rowing Mini-Camp in August
  • Mari Mullane for helping out with the flyer and digging out some old t-shirts as prizes

The flyers are attached here. Feel free to share these liberally with current JEB Stuart High School students and rising 9th graders from Corpus Christi and Poe who will be attending Stuart next year.

What a great and worthwhile effort. Feel the momentum.
