On Saturday we’ll compete, along with 47 other teams, in the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association Championship Regatta (often viewed as the State Championship or “States”). This culminates the regular season and gives our rowers chance to test themselves against the very best from around the State and the local DC area. This is the qualifying event for the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championship Regatta that will held May 26-27 on the Cooper River in NJ.
Rowers, despite the wet forecast we’ll continue to prepare today and tomorrow. We’ve talked regularly about eating, hydrating, and sleeping–this is especially important over the next couple of days. If you weren’t selected for a primary seat you’re still viewed as an alternate until race time and should come prepared with your uniform.
The 1st release schedule is attached; however, it’s still subject to change through the coaches’ meeting on Saturday morning. Note that the meeting times are an hour earlier than the typical regatta (6:30 am for coxswains/bows).
The Saturday forecast is rainy and windy, with temps in the 50s–please come appropriately dressed. Some of you will have to row in the morning and the afternoon, so bring enough clothes to allow for two trips outside.
See you at the boathouse.
