Now on to future activities

Miss Fairfax
Over the past few months, Bob Finley and the rowing alumni have done beautiful and detailed restoration work on the Miss Fairfax, the 8+ which the 1968 Stuart Men’s team raced to victory in the Elizabeth’s Cup at Henley. Special Thanks to Charles, Jimmy, Kurt and Warner and also to Dad Paul Taylor for moving our restored classic Pocoke shell to a protected space out of the winter storms. The “Miss Fairfax” is ready for the winter. Its restoration crew is now at ease.
Chipotle Night
Reminder: Wednesday night is our Chipotle fundraiser. Show up between 4 and 8 pm, tell the cashier you are there in support of Stuart Crew fundraiser, and Chipotle will send us half of what you spend on food and drink. Great excuse to load up on guacamole! (Be sure to tell everyone you know…friends, relatives, people on your neighborhood listserv…everyone loves an excuse not to eat out.) Flyer is at the link.
Move Boats!
Sandy Run is working on the maintenance and improvements of this vital park. Our boathouse, #2, will be getting roof work down at the end of the year. In the next two weeks, we’ll need all hands to help move the boats out of Boathouse #2 and onto the trailer, during construction and repair of the roof. Watch also for a notice about moving the boats back off of the trailer and into the boathouse for winter.
Winter Conditioning
There will be no official winter conditioning at the school during the winter holidays. All rowers are expected to keep up with the calendar plan over the break so that you’ll continue to build up your endurance and strength. Find a friend and work as a team do circuits and strength training. Take a run. Hit the pool and get in some laps. The coaches want to see everyone back in the dance studio on Jan. 2 in good form and in good health.
