- Weather. This week, don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, visors, and refillable water bottle labeled with your name.
- Water for Rowers. Please bring your refillable water bottles to regattas as well as practice. We will work to have large coolers for you to use to fill up your bottles in addition to the regular filling spigots at the Occoquan. Let’s reduce the amount of plastic the team uses. The bottles in the closet will go to Mathews May Regatta.
- Parking. For the most up-to-date information on parking sign up for #VASRAParking. They will fill up the 700 spots at the Occoquan first ($20.00 per car). After that fills up, they will move to off-site parking on Route 123 in Occoquan, with a bus to the regatta site ($5.00 pp.) It is hard to tell when that will happen, but for large regattas can be as early as 9:30. For more information about parking locations see information on VASRA’s website. Plan to allow at least an hour and a half to get from parking to the grandstands or your volunteer job sign-in. Enjoy the walk in the woods. Follow @vasraresults and @VASRAParking on Twitter for the latest.
- Friday Night Pasta Dinner. The Ferrell/Cruz family has generously volunteered to host the pasta dinner.
- Sunday, Earth Day Food and Baked Goods Fundraiser. Thanks for signing up to volunteer at the community Earth Day event on April 22nd. This is a fundraising event for the team as well as a good opportunity to make the team visible in the community. We sell food and drink and talk a lot about the team.
- Here is the way it works … parents grill and wrap food … rowers sell food and run Race-A-Rower event. This event will happen rain or shine.
- Event runs from 2:00 to 5:00 at Beach 5 at Lake Barcroft. Set up starts at 11:30 and tear down from 5:00 to 6:00. Beach 5 is located directly up Lakeview from the Stuart/Finley bridge if you are not familiar.
- Here’s what we need:
- Bake something homemade for bake sale portion (individually wrapped is best). This is typically a big seller at this event — bake what you like to bake, variety is good.
- Parents, thanks for signing up! We have enough parent volunteers to grill and could always use a few more hands for set up and tear down. Besides, it is a fun event.
- Rowers, sign up — this is an All Hands, team event. We will need people as early as 11:30 to help with set up. From 5:00 to 6:00, in addition to breaking down our own stuff, we will help the Lake Barcroft Association with some tear down of tables and chairs. Rowers, consider this a mandatory activity unless you have a good excuse not to be there — if so, let the captains know why you won’t be there.
