Rower/Parents,
Happy Mothers’ Day to all the Moms on the team!
Hard to believe our season is coming to a close … the last 12 weeks have gone by quickly.
My congratulations to all our Championship competitors yesterday, you represented Justice well. Special shoutout to Brooke who was 2nd in the women’s senior single and has earned a VASRA bid to attend the SRAA Championship Regatta at Lake Dillion, Ohio in two weeks. Cheers to our men’s senior quad (Charles/Julian/Liam F./Kurt) who brought home bronze medals. We also had two close 4th place final finishes … our women’s junior double (Layton/Julienne) missed the medal dock by 1.3 sec, while the women’s junior quad missed by just 1.7 sec. Finally, our men’s junior 4 (Trish/Brandon/Lincoln/Elisha/Jimmy) faced a large, tough field … they were second in their heat and 5th in a tight pack to the finish.
Check out the “day in pictures” provided by Heidi at our Justice Rowing photo/video gallery. As always, thank you, Heidi!
The week ahead …
With IB exams taking all our competitive seniors out of contention for Stotesbury, we’ve elected to only send one boat to the competition this year–the men’s junior 4. They will practice this week and head to Philadelphia on Thursday to compete on Friday.
Between IB exams, Brooke will continue training this week to get ready for the National Championship.
One Mon/Tue, Coach Chip and I will also do some sculling training to help prepare our novices for next season. Interested boys should let Coach Chip know if they plan to attend; interested girls contact Coach Mike.
There will be no bus this week, so those coming to the boathouse will have to arrange for carpool support.
See you at the boathouse …
Coach Mike
