Justice Rowing family,

I’d first like to thank Jerry Mullane and Coach Peter for their hard work on our motor boat engines this past week. On Monday, we were down to two functioning coaches’ launches, but by the weekend we had all four back up and running better than before. We are lucky to have such a strong support network in our community.

This past weekend our athletes competed in the Regional Park Regatta. The coaches were all impressed and proud to see all of our rowers begin and improve upon their seasons.

Our day began with the women’s double (W2x) going head to head against other technical crews and earning a strong second place finish. In the men’s quad (M4x) event, we fielded two crews. Our first quad took first place in the race, improving on last week’s performance. Our second quad, featuring two novices sculling for the first time, fought all the way through the line and finished fourth. Next, our women’s coxed four (W4+), also featuring a novice, finished last in their heat but rowed with unity for such an inexperienced crew. Finally, our men’s novice eight (MN8+) finished fifth in their heat, just 0.6 seconds behind fourth place, in the largest category of the regatta. The boys effectively executed their race plan and also improved on their time from the Polar Bear Regatta.

This week, we will look to add more miles to the season and push ourselves further. The coaches and I are very happy with our rowers maturity, willingness to try, and effort so far this season. I look forward to updating you all later this week as we prepare for the Walter Mess Regatta. Be safe, be well, and row strong.

By-Laws Amendment
Our Bylaws require us to have a vote for Board Directors by June 15 each year. With our delayed season this year, the Board is proposing to amend our Bylaws for 2021 only to allow the vote to take place no later than August 15 of this year. Attached is the proposed amendment, and we’ll plan to vote on it at our June 2 meeting at 7:00 P.M. We need a quorum of at least 5 members (separate from Board members) to attend and two-thirds of the quorum to approve the amendment.
