Week Past
This past weekend our varsity team competed at the second day of VSRCs. Our day started early with the men’s double (M-2x) qualifying for finals in the afternoon. Six hours later, in their final race of the season, our senior double took fourth in a very competitive event. Both boys (our team captains) and coaches were proud of their performance at States and all season, they have been incredibly consistent and have exemplified dedication and passion.
Next up, our men’s quad (M-4x) put on a dramatic performance for their final race. With less than 300 meters to go and open water between them and first place, our boys launched a sprint for the ages which closed the gap between them and their competition to 1.5 seconds and half a boat of overlap at the finish line. With their success, the boys secured silver in the M4x event for the second year in a row. Congrats boys!
Immediately after, the women’s quad (W-4x) fought hard through the line for a 6th place finish. While initially disappointed, the girls are now determined to make this weekend’s race in Philly faster than ever.
The men’s junior quad (M-Jr-4x) followed shortly after, taking 5th in their final. The boys, who haven’t raced in over two weeks, were still proud of their performance and look forward to building on it for next season.
Finally, our women’s junior double (W-Jr-2x) fought through illness and tough competition to take third in their event. They too look forward to Stotesbury to add speed and race as hard as they know they can.
Well done to all rowers and, again, huge shout out to all of our parents and supporters who came out to cheer them on!

Week Forward
This week is the 95th Annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia! Rowers will be traveling to the historic Boathouse Row early Thursday morning to compete and enjoy their first truly national-level regatta. Thanks to all parents, chaperones, and volunteers who have helped coordinate and make this trip happen! We will be in touch throughout the weekend with updates.

Nationals – Unfortunately, we did not qualify any boats for SRAAs this year based on their performance at VSRCs (States).
Practices and Boathouse Cleanup — While the majority of coaching staff is at Stotesbury or competing at regattas of their own (good luck at ACRAs Coach Charles!), practices will NOT be held for the remainder of this week. Next week we coaches will still hold practices for those rowers who want to come down to the boathouse to improve their skills and get a few more rows in! Monday Tuesday, and Wednesday we will have optional practices for rowers who can make it. Rowers please let the Captains and coaches know what days you will be attending. Buses will not be available, so please respond to justicerowing@gmail.com if you can help with carpool on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. During these sessions, we will also wash boats and recover our motors and launches and store them on land.

June Learn-to-Row Camp
In recent years, this short week-long mini-rowing camp has been a great recruiting event to introduce rising 9th graders (and some 8th graders!) to the sport of rowing and Justice Rowing. Our coaches and upper-class rowers run it, and we need your support to pull it off. If you can help out by coordinating, providing snacks, or registration assistance, please send us an email. The dates are TBD in June but will be announced soon.
Thank you all for your support of our program and athletes!
