Happy New Year Justice Rowing Supporters!
If you’re not already in the mood for rowing (just 43 days until on-the-water practice!), I encourage you to take an evening and watch Boys in the Boat, at a theater near you. Particularly poignant to me were the scenes with George Pocock crafting/caring for his boats with the team. Some of you may not know that Justice Rowing is the proud owner of a Pocock 8 which was purchased in part by Fairfax County in the late 1960’s. And with the grit of 9 “kids” from JEB Stuart, the boat was piloted to win the Princess Elisabeth Cup race at the Henley Royal Regatta in Oxford, England in 1968. The restored boat (thanks Bob Finley) rests in a place of honor hanging in the practice room down at Sandy Run. See photos of the restoration and installation at Miss Fairfax Restoration and Miss Fairfax Installation at Sandy Run Boathouse (thanks Heidi Gioseffi for the photos).
