Justice Rowing Supporters: Only 19 days to go until we’re on the water at Lake Barcroft! Many important announcements below — please read.

1. Booster Meeting, moved to next week, February 8 at 5:30 pm, JHS, Rm. I-145 (across from the auxiliary gym) — Next week’s Booster meeting will be directly after rowing practice — 5:30 PM — to avoid multiple trips to/from JHS. During our Booster mtg., the plan is for rowers to meet with Coach(es) to discuss expectations for the season.

2.  Swim Test for novices only —Most likely dates will be the week of February 12 at Providence Recreation Center after school (usually done during the Winter conditioning time, right after school). Stay tuned for more information.

3. February 17, Move to Lake Barcroft — All-hands required to move our equipment from Sandy Run to Lake Barcroft to start on-the-water practice on Feb. 19. Sign up! Curious about what to expect? See the photo slideshow from 2023.

4. One Sign Up Genius for the Season! One-stop shopping for all of your Justice Rowing volunteer needs! You can sign up to host a pasta dinner (or two), volunteer to drive a launch (for VASRA), and host snacks at one of the many regattas. PLEASE take a look at your calendars now, check off a volunteer slot or two, and help out our team and planner for team events. It’s much easier to plan events when volunteers are in place several weeks ahead of time so that we don’t have to scramble at the last minute sending out emails/frantically searching for help.

5. Coming in March — Season Kick Off Potluck — We kick our rowing season off on March 1 with a team/family potluck. This year’s event will be held at the JHS cafeteria. Thanks to Christina Kish for spearheading this event! Sign up to contribute.

6. Transportation options — We are still considering our options for transportation this season. If anyone knows someone who has (or you would like to earn your) Commercial Drivers License and become a qualified FCPS bus driver, please reach out as there is an option of providing transportation using FCPS buses and our own dedicated driver. Pay would be at FCPS rates.
