Hello Justice Rowing Families: This week marks the return of our regatta racing at the Polar Bear Regatta (an upperclassman-only event — all rowers are encouraged to come out and help your teammates and cheer them on at the finish line)! We have several important announcements so PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL THOROUGHLY. Also, a huge welcome back to Coach Nate!
Tuesday, March 12, Chipotle Fundraiser, 5-9 pm, at 6299 Seven Corners Ctr., Falls Church, VA 22044: If you are ordering online please use code HBMNM3W for your order to be counted. If you go in, please show the attached flyer (English or Spanish) or mention Justice High School Rowing to receive credit for your order!
Season Kick Off Dinner Friday Night: The season’s potluck kickoff dinner is this Friday, 7-9 at the JHS cafeteria. There are still a couple of slots open for folks to bring food and we hope everyone can join us!
Sign up today! We’ll also talk more about our new eTeams fundraiser and how it works.
Regatta Food Table: We would like to provide food for rowers during the day, but only if you volunteer to bring it — several more sign up slots remain. Please go to the
SignUp Genius where you can sign up for any/all of our regattas in one place. You can arrange to either send your food with your rower or with a VASRA volunteer who will be volunteering at the Regatta.
Race Schedules: Plan on learning about when your rower will compete on or about Thursday/Friday once the races are set by VASRA (this usually happens late Thursday/early Friday). Rowers should be at Sandy Run NO LATER THAN TWO HOURS before their race. Rowers may be dropped off at Sandy Run, but there is no parking at Sandy Run for spectators.
Spectator Parking: ALL spectators must park off-site and take a shuttle bus to Sandy Run. The shuttle bus costs $15 round trip. Once the shuttle bus drops you off it is about another 15-20 walk to the finish line. You may also pay a separate $5 each way for a shuttle from the drop-off point to the Finish Line area. Parking is at South County High School, 8501 Silverbrook Rd, Lorton, VA 22079, USA (
map). MORE INFORMATION IS INCLUDED IN THE
PARKING FAQ FROM VASRA.
VASRA Volunteers: If you are signed up for a VASRA volunteer job (you know who you are) then you may park free at Sandy Run. Tell the parking monitors when you arrive that you are a volunteer and for what job and they will direct you to appropriate parking.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out on a damp Saturday to help us move all of our equipment back to Sandy Run, including picking up boat motors, getting gas, bringing food, moving trailers etc. A pic of our crew attached. And a special thanks to LONG FENCE for donating our fencing once again this year, and to the Lake Barcroft Association for allowing us to use their facilities and the lake for our practices this past month.
Please reach out with any questions.
