Justice Rowing Supporters:
We are excited to share that Justice Rowing has maintained its position as a leading state and national contender in high school sculling this past season! We would like to make you a part of our most recent achievements and express our appreciation for your ongoing support. Your contributions have been vital to the success of our athletes, both in competition and in personal development. Looking ahead, we are committed to growing our team so that more students will benefit from the team and confidence-building experience our sport offers. THANK YOU to all of you for your financial and volunteer assistance in supporting our future initiatives.
2025: THE YEAR IN REVIEW
Last Spring, we wrapped up a very successful season, culminating with three boats competing at the SRAA National Championships for the first time in three years. With more than half the team being new rowers, we looked at this as a “rebuilding year” for Justice Rowing. Winter training was spirited, and our dedicated athletes worked hard on their fitness, giving us a strong start of the season. Despite enduring an unusually long winter, which delayed our water training by several weeks, our athletes pushed through and made the most of each chance they got to be on the water.
On the men’s team, our novice rowers picked up the rhythm after a few dips in the water and came together to a fabulous finish. The freshman quad raced at the Virginia State Championships as a second junior quad, taking a surprising 5th place. The junior quad, also entirely made up of novice rowers, showed dramatic improvements in speed. The men’s senior quad found the right lineup halfway through the season, in perfect time for the State Championships. In the finals, they comfortably beat two boats that had previously beaten them and came in 2nd. With this finish, they qualified for the SRAA National Championships where they capped a terrific season with a solid performance against the fastest crews in the nation.
The women’s junior quad, now in their third year rowing together, put their experience to good use and, joined by a novice, won First Place by a comfortable 14 seconds at the Virginia State Championships. Furthermore, our senior double finished 3rd after just six days rowing together and qualified for SRAA Nationals. At SRAA Nationals, the women’s junior quad won their prelim heat and secured a middle lane for the finals. They led for most of the final before an unfortunate crab cost them the championship, but still rallied to place 2nd in the nation in the ultimate proof of resilience. They were the only boat from the National Capital Region at SRAAs to medal!
2026: THE YEAR AHEAD
Coach Nate Carmody will continue to lead our outstanding coaching team, with valuable support from Coach Kitty Knell and Coach Dan Lyons. Our program remains open to all students who are willing to commit and work hard—we don’t hold tryouts. Thanks to donors like you, we’re able to offer this opportunity to every student who wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. This fall, we already have over 70 students who have expressed interest, and we hope to recruit as many as 20 new rowers this year. In anticipation of this growth, we urgently must build up our fleet to ensure every rower has a seat in our boats!
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT JUSTICE ROWING
Justice Rowing receives no funding from the school or county and relies entirely on the generous support of our community, our fundraisers, and annual student dues. These dues cover roughly half of our operating budget, with the other half coming from fundraisers and donations from supporters like you. Our primary objective this year is to expand our team to provide access to rowing for as many students as possible. To achieve this, we wish to increase the number of scholarships available as well as our equipment inventory. Your support makes our program possible and helps us keep rowing accessible to everyone. Here’s how you can make a difference:
🎄WREATH, POINSETTIA, AND COFFEE FUNDRAISER
Place your order now through October 30. Items will be available for pickup on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Visit the Justice Rowing online holiday shop to place your order. Our goal is to raise $15,000 this year through the Wreath, Poinsettia, and Coffee Fundraiser!
🚣🏾 NEW BOATS & OAR SETS
Thanks to your generous support so far this season, we were able to purchase more “new-to-Justice” boats. As we continue to grow the team, we will be looking to purchase additional used boats and sculling oars to keep our athletes moving. Our goal is to raise $15,000 this year for the new boats and sculling oars.
🛶 COACHING TOOLS
We are supporting our coaches by converting a boat launch to a remote console for greater mobility and visibility, acquiring a GPS Speed Coach for tracking performance and technique, and buying three waterproof megaphones to maintain safety and communication on the water. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for these improved tools.
🛟 ROWING SCHOLARSHIPS
Justice High School Rowing Boosters never lets cost be a barrier to participation on the Justice Rowing Team. Donate to help offset the team dues for those rowers who need financial support. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support these rowers.
Donations of any size are greatly appreciated! We are a 501(c)(3) organization, so your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent of the law. You can donate here, or by mailing a check to: Justice High School Rowing Boosters, P.O. Box 2377, Falls Church, VA. 22042.
Thank you for your continued support to our rowers! Go Wolves, and Row Strong!
