- ALL HANDS! All rowers are expected to participate as a member of crew. We could use a few parents, too! Sign up to help move our boats on Feb. 19. Meet at Sandy Run to load boats onto our new trailer.
- New practice schedule and location starting Feb. 22. Rowers will meet after school and run down to Lake Barcroft as a warm-up to practice. Practice will initially go until 5:30, but may stretch later as the days get longer. We’ll send out an announcement to alert you to any changes. Pick up will be at Lake Barcroft, Beach 4, 3533 Duff Dr, Falls Church, VA 22041.
- Swim Test—all novices are required to pass a swim test. The dates for the swim test will be announced over the next two weeks—stay tuned. The swim test will take place at Providence Recreation Center.
- Safe Sport Requirement—As discussed at our recent Boosters meeting, both US Rowing and VASRA now require any volunteers, including our LOC position and any multi-day volunteers—more than 2 days in positions—who have direct access to athletes, to complete Safe Sport training. JHS Booster Board members also are required to take the training, which takes 15 minutes.Steps to access and complete the training:
- Go to USrowing.org and sign up for an individual membership, checking the “volunteer” category (no charge). Justice High School Rowing Club code: W2GS4. Remember your membership number!
- Once your individual membership is created, click on the SafeSport link and select the “volunteer” training (15 minutes)
- Prompts will take you through the lesson.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the information above.
