Many of you were there to enjoy some racing and great weather on Saturday, but a short recap for those who weren’t … we had four entries in the Polar Bear Regatta—the lightweight boys’ quad won their race, defeating the Hylton entry; the open weight boys were 2nd, beating Hylton, but just getting edged out by Western Albemarle. On the girls side … the girls’ quad turned in a good time, but it wasn’t quite enough against the defending State Champion, Western Albemarle, and our junior 8 with 4 novice girls rowed well and were third behind Woodson and Lake Braddock.

Looking to this week … the annual music trip will take about a third of our rowers out of action. Those we currently expect to be gone:

– Girls:  Leilani, Alize, Erin, Pasha, Parker, Isabelle, Mackenzie, Emma

– Boys:  Julian, Liam, Sam F., Torin (?), Warner, Steven, Renzo, Noah, Chris, Rami (?), Berkley, Vince

If you’re listed above we expect you to be gone Thursday through the weekend. If you’re not listed, but will miss the regatta on Saturday, please let me know now.

The coaches will decide on regatta lineups at the end of the Tuesday practice … our entries must be submitted to Regatta Central by Wednesday. We’ll plan to practice the regatta lineups on both Thursday and Friday.

Finally, my thanks for all the effort surrounding the Friday Pasta Dinner and for the naming of the new 8.

Coach Mike
