My thanks for all the support and efforts during this wet and chilly regatta. The team did well today, placing in the top 3 in four events …

  • 3rd place in the women’s double (Mackenzie/Hannah)
  • 2nd place in the men’s single (Chris)
  • 1st place in the women’s quad (Pasha/India/Isabelle/Erin)
  • 1st place in the men’s quad (Vince/Sam/Charles/Markus)

Our women’s junior 4+ (Caroline/Brooke/Tucker/Ryan/Noorah) qualified in their heat and competed in the final. Our lightweight double (Vivian/Giselle) competed well against an all-open-weight field of girls. Finally, our men’s junior  4 (Parker/Brandon/Long/Kurt/Julian) finished 4th in their heat.

Looking forward, we have the Al Urquia next Saturday, April 29. This will be a smaller regatta than today because there is also a Potomac regatta that day. This will be the last Occoquan regatta for us before the VASRA Championship (aka States). This upcoming weekend we’ll look to field lineups that we’ll compete at States as a trial run.

The following weekend (May 6th), we’ll travel to Mathews, Virginia. Everybody will row at this regatta … and at this point no one has indicated they’ll be absent, so the coaches will start building lineups for that regatta assuming every rower will be present.

We may start the week with some wet weather … be prepared with extra clothes.
Coach Mike
