Team,
Thanks to all who accepted the Summer Fitness Challenge and have turned in their accomplishments. So far Caroline, Charles, Pasha, Markus, Mackenzie, Noorah, Isabelle, Julian, Kurt, and Noah have logged a little over 600K meters and 44 hours of strength/circuit work. From the leaderboard, congratulations to the current category leads: Rowing—Isabelle, Running—Noorah, Biking—Markus, Swimming—Mackenzie, Circuit/Lift—Julian. My challenge to you was 2.2 million meters by August 28th … to meet this team goal we’ll need other team members to contribute! If you’re working out please let the captains/coaches know how you’re contributing; if you’re not working out, please start … we can still meet the goal if more rowers are active.
Green Days … thanks to Noorah, Vivian, Caroline, Mackenzie, Isabelle, Markus (and alums Maggie, Hannah, and Vince) for coming out for the scheduled green days. Despite the heat, we were able to get good sculling work in our three doubles. With the new green day policy, I initially missed that this upcoming week is limited to conditioning only (these are yellow days) so we had to cancel the two green days scheduled for this week. However, rowers are encouraged to come to the weight room this week to lift with Coaches Rob and Sergio.
On August 10, 11, and 12 we’ll run a Learn-to-Row Novice Camp at Sandy Run to introduce rowing to prospective new team members. So far we have 11 new students signed to participate so we’ll need to put at least two boats on the water. We’ll need help from experienced rowers (graduate rowers too). Signup to participate here. If we have more experienced rowers than needed to support the camp boats, we can send the additional rowers out in small boats and treat it as a green day for them.
Note that August 1-9 are “red days” and spring coaches are not allowed to work with their athletes in this window.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer … stay active and safe!
