Eric Caldwell, Assistant Coach 2019, began rowing over 30 years ago at the University of Massachusetts. Through the years, rowing created many opportunities to learn and grow, and he has often given back to the rowing community by coaching. Coaching experience includes work with: juniors, masters, and collegiate rowers while in graduate school at the University of Tennessee. Eric and his family are happy to live in an area with such a strong rowing tradition. |

Hannah Cacner, Assistant Coach 2020-2021, is a native of Fairfax, where she began her rowing career as a Freshman at Oakton High School. Hannah rowed for all four of her years at Oakton before graduating in 2015. In 2019, she graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Geographic Science. While at JMU, Hannah was a member of the school’s rowing team for four years.

Maggie Crotty, Assistant Coach 2019-2022, is an alumnus of the Justice Rowing program, participating as a rower for 3 years until graduating in 2015 with a silver medal earned at States in the women’s lightweight double. A 2019 graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, Crotty rowed and coxed for the Pitt Club Rowing team for 4 years while earning her BS in Psychology. She also coached swim at the Sleepy Hollow Recreation Association for 5 years.

Mike David (Former Head Coach) is a graduate of the USAF Academy and served as a career Air Force officer and military/commercial pilot. He started rowing for Prince William Rowing Club (PWRC) in 2000. He coached for PWRC and was the president for a number of years. He joined the Justice Rowing staff in 2012 as a chance to share the sport that meant so much to his daughter who competed for Woodbridge High School. He became Justice Rowing’s Head Coach for the 2014–2018 seasons and continues to coach in local programs. He is a USRowing Level II certified instructor. |

Lara Habel is a graduate of Smith College, where she rowed on the varsity crew team. After graduating in 2012, she began training in a single with Occoquan Boat Club, racing as a lightweight in regattas including C.R.A.S.H.-B’s and US Rowing Club Nationals. She works as a certified personal trainer and pursued graduate studies in Nutrition & Dietetics. Lara was on JEB Stuart’s coaching staff for the 2014 season. |

Mike Harrell had his first experience working with a crew team in 2010, and his father, Mike Harrell (’73), is a former Stuart crew member. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. |

Shannon Hoff (JEB Stuart ’09) graduated from James Madison University in 2013, where she was a coxswain of their 1st Women’s boat. Shannon is a Stuart alum where she was a rower, coxswain, and captain. She enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for the sport and helping the women’s teams place at States as a JEB Stuart Crew coach from 2012 through 2015 seasons. |

Lexie Katz, Stuart crew women’s assistant coach 2016-2017 season, guided novice women rowers on their first experience on the water. Formerly an Honors Government and Econ/Personal Finance teacher at Stuart, Katz rowed at UVa and contributed to winning four consecutive ACC Championships and the 2012 NCAA Championship as well as graduating as a double Hoo (2015 graduate BA in history, Masters in Teaching). |

Marieke Kester started rowing as a freshman at Tufts University. By her junior year, she was rowing in the first varsity eight, competing at numerous regattas each season, including Head of the Charles in 2006 and 2008. After college, she rowed for a brief time for Rivanna Rowing Club in Charlottesville VA before relocating to Northern Virginia for graduate school in wildlife biology. Kester has rowed competitively for Prince William Rowing Club and sculls recreationally out of Occoquan Boat Club. Marieke coached for JEB Stuart High School part-time during the 2012 and 2014 seasons. |

Marissa Marth studied Kinesiology and Computer Science at George Mason University. Marissa started rowing at Gar-Field High School and started coxing with Prince William Rowing Club around the same time. She continued to row during college until she began pursuing coaching. Marth finds it fulfilling to inspire others to be the best they can be, both as individuals and athletes, through the sport of rowing. |

Peter McGuigan (JEB Stuart ’16) coached the Men’s Novice 8+ and the Men’s Junior Quad, who competed as finalists at the Virginia States Championship in 2021. A 2021 graduate, McGuigan rowed throughout his collegiate career at Loyola College (MD). While at JEB Stuart High School, McGuigan rowed competitively in both sweep and sculling shells, most notably earning a silver medal at the 2015 Virginia State Championship in the Men’s Varsity Quad. |

Alex Ramirez is a native Arlingtonian, who first started rowing for Yorktown High School, and then in Boulder, CO. He is a Level III Certified rowing instructor who has coached at Thompsons Boathouse and was Wakefield Crew head coach for 5 years. Ramirez was Stuart Crew’s Head Coach in 2012 and 2013. |
