Learn To Row! Postponed!

Jun 14, 2023

Learn To Row! Postponed!

UPDATE: Learn-to-Row program will be rescheduled. Stay tuned! And stay strong over the summer months to row strong this winter.

Here’s your chance to spend some time on the water and experience rowing firsthand.

Students who will be attending Justice High School (any grade) in the 2023–2024 school year and rising 7th or 8th graders (any school) and live within the Justice High School boundaries are invited to a three-day Learn-To-Row at Sandy Run Regional Park June 21–23, 2023 from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM. No experience is required—it’s a fun, free experiential event.

You are Ready to Row in 2 Steps

  1. Complete a waiver (download PDF here). Requires a parent or guardian signature. Print, complete, sign, and email the waiver to Justice High School Rowing Boosters by before Monday, June 19!
  2. Pass a short swim test to be conducted at 6:00 PM Monday, June 19 at the Sleepy Hollow Bath and Racquet Club, 3516 Sleepy Hollow Rd. Falls Church, VA 2204.

Where

The three-day Learn-To-Row event will take place at Sandy Run Regional Park, the location of our boathouse. Click here for printable directions or here for Google maps.

What to Wear, Items to Bring

Avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing (think leggings or spandex and a t-shirt) and bring sunscreen, a pair of socks, and at least a 32 oz. refillable water bottle. But not too large—the water bottle needs to fit in the boat. You might also want to pack a change of clothes, a towel, and hair ties in a backpack or sports bag that will hold your smartphone, headphones, and house keys to keep valuables safe on land in the boathouse.

Contact Justice High School Rowing Boosters to let us know you’ll be joining us or for more details. In your email, please provide the rower’s name, grade, and any athletic information you want to share.

Parents are welcome!
